Many residents have air conditioning systems installed in their flats and houses. And even those without such systems will have a refrigerator at home. Looking closer at the structure of a refrigerator, we notice that it's always cold inside, but its walls, conversely, are warm. Outside the refrigerator, there's a motor that is always hot. New technologies allow the principle of refrigerant cooling to be used for heating. So how can this same refrigerator be used to heat a house? The answer is simple – using an air-to-water heat pump system. The main elements of such a heating system are the refrigerant and a special air-to-water heat pump. The system itself is not as straightforward as conventional coal or gas heating, but it is still understandable.
Firstly, it must be said that a powerful fan with a chamber containing circulation pipes is installed outdoors to heat the refrigerant. The pipes are then directed into the room where a compressor is located. Passing through this, the heat transfer fluid is compressed and, as it heats up, moves on to the heat exchanger.
How Air-to-Water Heating Works – Key Information
The refrigerant in the boiler cools down, releasing heat and changing from a gaseous to a liquid state. It therefore becomes heavier and moves back towards the evaporator, where it heats up again, and the whole cycle repeats. However, it must be remembered that the refrigerant is not the only main part of this mechanism. The condenser plays a key role here, accumulating heat from the heat transfer fluid.
Also, do not forget that for the system to operate efficiently, the heating pipes should contain not ordinary water, but antifreeze or another special fluid for closed-loop heating systems, as such liquids have better heating and heat dissipation properties.
Since this type of heating system is closed and does not require external power supply, it does not need extensive maintenance. Periodically, all system components should be checked for leaks. Filter replacement is also necessary if they were installed.
